Mappillai Samba is also known as Bridegroom s Rice. This type of rice has a distinct flavour and taste. The rice grains are oval, thick and red in colour. This rice is given to newly married men to boost their energy and power, hence the name Mappillai samba came. Mappillai Samba rice is believed to increase the haemoglobin content in our blood. It is rich in multiple nutrients including large amounts of fibre. It reduces body heat and has lesser sugar content than white rice. This is parboiled.
